Kids room- design challenge and a great investment for the future

Spring is finally here! At least in our part of the world. Have you thought about renovating and redecorating your place? We certainly did!  Lately, my children and their room has been on the top of my list. Isn't it true that we put our kids first when it comes to their comfort and surroundings? We all as good parents want them to have the best in life, have the best possible opportunities even when it comes to organizing their work and play space.

We as a family of four met many challenges during the past year having to move to a new place due to the Hurricane Sandy flooding our own house.  Our different sex children now have to share a spacious bedroom in an 1850's Victorian era apartment, which we now rent. They complaint a lot about missing their old way of life.  How do you fit your previous life into a completely different and new surroundings? The truth is you don't.  Each new space you occupy requires a new and unique design approach.  And at least for me that is an exciting challenge...

What separates great design from mediocre?  Unlimited imagination? Thought and consideration? All of the above.  Remember  that design is a not an instant feat, it takes time, planning, questioning and even some procrastination. Making rash instantaneous decisions usually leads to regrets.  On top of that being a huge fan of DIY myself,  it is often a good idea to enlist professionals at some stages of your project who can help you greatly to reach your goals and save you time and money. The professional helpers: painters, designers, decorators contractors are trained to plan out work flow, purchase materials and furnishings,  all within your set budget, and desired style.

Although it is a good idea to take the current age of your children into account, parents typically search for ways to meet the future needs of  growth process.  Keep in mind the ubiquitous possibilities  for design that encompass all age groups, or at least a large part of child's stage of development toddler-kindrgraten, tween-teen etc.

Introducing color, shapes, textures to a child's daily life has proven  to be beneficial in early development and later eases the introduction to abstract thinking and concept of art and design. So now that the kids spend more time outside the timing is perfect for remodeling and repainting their room! Let the spring inspire you, start by taking small steps to a bigger and brighter existence.
